What is a Financial Coach?

Money shapes everything in our lives.

A financial coach is someone you can talk to about your money and help you get clear on your personal finances. After getting on track, money becomes easy and you can spend confidently to live your best, most joyful life.

A financial coach helps you look at what is going on with your money on a daily basis–what you spend on and what you WANT to spend on. We tackle lingering debt, clean up messy accounts, and make sure you are planning for your dream life goals like buying a house or changing careers.

Is this the same as a financial advisor, do you handle investments?
No, coaches are not a financial advisors, they do not give investment advice or create a one-time financial plan. Coaches teach you think about your money in healthy ways and organize it so it’s not stressful. It takes at least a few sessions to sort through concerns, organization, and goals so that you get clear and move forward.

What is the “coaching” part?
What you care about in your life is where your money should be going. Whether you are over-spending or under-spending, over-saving or under-saving, money behaviors are usually driven by unconscious scripts inherited from our families and influenced by our peer groups. The “coaching” part of financial coaching shines a light on these patterns and gives you the agency to choose your own life more consciously.

Each client is different, but each one starts with getting a clear picture of their finances. From there, we together decide what needs to be tackled to create a clear, purposeful path forward. Some start to pay down debt, some shift spending, some realize they need to (and can!) make bigger changes to have the life they truly want.

In friendly, judgement-free sessions, a coach gives you tools and pushes you (gently) to become your best and transform your life. Truly, we truly figure it out together and have fun doing it.
